I have a secret to tell you. I’m currently involved in a love affair and I am really bad at keep secrets! Now if you have ever used the Magnificent Metals Foil Shadows from Stila Cosmetics, you would know exactly what I’m talking about! These shadows go beyond anything I have ever used before and I just need to tell the world about my new lust! A cross between a hybrid creamy-almost-powder formula, with the look of gold leaf mingling with tin foil, comes a texture and consistency that is almost indescribable. But the colour payoff and shine is out of this world!
I came across this eye-candy one day while meandering through the brightly lit aisles of Sephora. I will be the first to admit that anything sparkly immediately grabs attention - don’t even get me started on what happens when I walk by a Swarovski display…it’s not pretty. Focus Ashley. As I was saying, I was immediately drawn to the sparkle and shine of these chrome potted shadows. But then I touched one of the testers and it was over for me – and my bank account. They are almost wet to the touch yet they dry to a smooth powdery finish, all the while maintaining the high impact colour and shine that is oh so desirable. It really doesn’t get any better than this!
One thing I love about these shadows is that you can sweep a little bit on with your finger or a brush to give a nice sheer wash of colour and shine or go full on gorgeous with a little layering. The effect can be completely personalized. Now let’s be serious here for a minute, for me it is go big or go home! I do up to three or four layers sometimes because I just can’t seem to get enough! They also recently released the coordinating Magnificent Metals Eyeliners. These are perfect for the beauty maven who may be a little more reserved or hesitant to coat the entire eye with all of the shiny goodness. The liners give you the colour payoff, but with a hint of mystery and intrigue!
And just when you thought you had hit the jackpot, Stila introduces their Magnificent Metals for Spring 2014. The soft shades of violet, peach, jade and pink make these shadows completely wearable during the day while stick packing a punch for evening wear. If you want to take your look from day to night, make sure you use the primer that comes with the shadow. I have heard of people who don’t like to use it and they wonder why they don’t get the desired effect. The primer intensifies the overall look while holding the shadow in place all day! The primer was made to co-exist with the shadow. Without one, you can’t have the other.
Now it’s time for what I call my Honourable Mentions. These are the shades that I adore and cannot live without. I also think you should try them! But please don’t buy too many, because then they’ll be out of stock and I won’t be able to purchase them. And that’s a problem for me. I am selfish, yes. I’m working on it!
Vintage Black Gold – The first shade I ever bought, and the one that has gotten me through some rough times. We’ve been through a lot together.
Metallic Merlot – It’s named after a wine…need I say more? Cheers!
Metallic Lilac – I will put anything purple on eyes. Anything!
Metallic Peach – Perfectly soft for a fresh daytime or any time look.
Metallic Jade – The hottest colour of the season. Pair it with a dark taupey brown or black shadow through the crease and prepare to wow your adoring fans!
